How I can help you….

There are many issues in life which we might find challenging to deal with and I can help you with this. We can talk through your feelings or experiences and look at new perspectives, or ways of relating. If you need to heal, I can give you a safe space to do that. If you feel stuck, I can sit with you and help you to find a way out. If you need to feel heard, I will listen.

Here are some other ways in which I can help…

Anxiety

I understand that anxiety can be exhausting and can limit the way you lead your life.  I can help you to recognise triggers and develop coping mechanisms to slow down the physical responses to anxiety.  We can work through how you can manage anxiety provoking situations and take control of your panic, leading you to feel more grounded, calm and confident, even when faced with challenging situations.

Depression

Dealing with day-to-day life can be challenging when you are experiencing depression.  I can help you to identify areas of your life which might cause you to fall into a downward spiral and to be more aware of any warning signs or familiar patterns of behaviour.  We can work together to understand what you need from yourself and others in order to feel better and look at turning around negative thinking or feelings of being stuck.  We can work on identifying and introducing more positive aspects in your life, helping to boost your mood and feel more motivated.

Self-esteem issues

If you feel that low self-esteem is holding you back in life, I can help you to recognise negative self-talk and challenge your inner-critic.  We can work on boosting your confidence and increasing your self-worth by acceptance of who you are and helping you to value yourself more by exploring positive aspects of yourself.  We can look at identifying your strengths and qualities and work through ways of managing situations when others’ behaviour impacts on your self-esteem.

Trauma

If you have experienced trauma it may have had a significant impact on you, but there are ways in which we can lessen this, so that you feel stronger and can start to lead a more fulfilling life.  Firstly, we can look at how you can manage your trauma symptoms better, so that you feel more calm and safe in the here and now.  I can help you to change any unhelpful coping strategies that may have arisen and also to restructure some of the negative thinking that might have developed.  My approach can help you to work through your trauma safely and at your pace, so that you can begin to rebuild your life.

Relationships

We often struggle with relationships in life and this can be a major source of worry and distress.  I can help you to develop your self-awareness so you can start to understand your relational process and also to recognise any unhelpful patterns, or when you’re being triggered by past memories.  I can also help you to recognise the difference between unhealthy and healthy relationships and we can work on self-esteem, boundaries and communication so that you feel better equipped and more confident in your contact with others.

Sexuality and Gender Identity

My values around sexuality and gender ‘issues’ are rooted in my experiences of being a supportive parent.  If you would like to talk about your sexuality or gender identity, I can guarantee you non-judgemental support.  I am here to listen if you are feeling confused or worried about anything and can help you to navigate difficult relationships you might be experiencing and to feel more comfortable with your identity.

Loss and Bereavement

Experiencing loss or bereavement can be life-changing and sometimes extremely painful.  I can provide you with the space to express your feelings and sit with you in your grieving process.  We can look at ways in which you can manage the impact of loss on your daily life and I can help you to deal with new ways of living.
